First and foremost, I’m a writer I suppose. I’ve been writing professionally and for fun for over 12 years now, and it’s what sits at the heart of everything thing I do.
Having spent many years as a film blogger and podcaster, I wrote and published my first book Adventures in VHS in 2016 and am looking to put out my second, Beyond the Neon, some time in 2020. So yeah, if you’re a publisher, we should talk.
Like Adventures in VHS, Beyond the Neon is a project that started life as a podcast. Once again it looks at the 1980s, but explores all aspects of the decade, not just film. From movies and television to comics, advertising, music and more it is designed to look deeper than the usual 1980s aesthetic to find answers about why it was the way it was… rather than just point at it.
Outside of writing, I do design, video and animation (again both professionally and for my own projects), and lecture on film and pop culture from time to time. In June 2019, I delivered my first academic paper as part of Manchester Metropolitan University’s Centre For Gothic Studies 1980s symposium. It was most bodacious.
I’m available for comment, interviews, lecture opportunities and collaborative work, so please give me a shout via email@example.com.
